New home of North Toronto Collegiate Institute includes condo towers

An article in today's edition of Toronto's daily construction newspaper describes the mixed-use development partnership between the Toronto District School Board and condominium developer Tridel Inc. The four-storey school (part of a three building complex) includes classrooms, a 600-seat theatre, library and triple gymnasium. The ground level will feature a dramatic, three-storey theatre lobby and performance hall. It is hoped that the building will achieve a LEED-gold rating.

Colorado Releases Draft Criteria for New Construction and Major Maintenance

The Colorado "Collaborative for High Performance Schools" has released for public comment a comprehensive draft guideline for new school construction and major maintenance. One-year in the making, the working group that produced the new benchmark is made up of a cross-section of state, local and education groups.
