National Green Week 2014 kicks off February 3-7

National Green Week is an annual event that empowers schools to engage in sustainability focused lessons, projects or activities between the first full week in February and the end of Earth Month (April). Participating districts, schools, classrooms or youth groups choose a week, then select from the Green Education Fund's sustainability focused programs to be their ‘green theme.’ Each theme provides 5 day standards-based lesson sets, activities, recommended reading, sustainability tips, contests, and more! Join over 10,000 schools and 5 million students in the largest sustainability education program running!

Alberta receives only one P3 respondent for building 19 schools

Alberta is undertaking another major expansion of school projects, aiming to provide 19 brand new schools in nine communities in the province.

The province has decided that it will continue to use a public-private partnership (P3) approach even though it only received one single response to its request for qualifications to design and build the schools.

U.S. Green Building Council Releases Best of Green Schools 2013 List

Washington, DC - The Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) announced its third annual Best of Green Schools list in December. The 2013 list recognizes top educational institutions, individuals and initiatives that are working toward the common goal of creating healthy, high-performing learning facilities across the country.
